Kilshaine House
Set in the magnificent rolling countryside of South Tipperary, this large Victorian house is at the end of a half mile long driveway and surrounded by 320 acres of private parkland which includes a trout river and landscaped gardens with some stunning features: great trees, an 1860 palm house, a large walled garden – and a ballroom in an orangerie, where 200 guests can be seated for a gala dinner.
The house has recently been meticulously restored for special events and is now one of Ireland’s most desirable private venues. An impressive high-ceilinged hall with marble columns and beautiful plasterwork sets the tone, and a series of fine rooms – drawing room, library, dining room and morning room – all share magnificent views across the Tipperary landscape.
There are several churches to choose from in the area, and wedding blessings can be held at Kilshane. The champagne reception is hosted in the Conservatory, followed by dinner in the Orangerie, which has three French doors opening onto a terrace overlooking the lake. The original Georgian house was built by the Malcomsoms in 1863, and the Minella was opened as a hotel by Mr & Mrs Jack Nallen in 1963.
