Over the years filming wedding videos I have come across some fabulous hotels and this week is all about Abbeyleix Manor Hotel .
The Abbeyleix Manor Hotel is a family owned & managed hotel near Portlaoise and is perfect for business and pleasure, offering stylish and comfortable guestrooms for the business traveller and the ideal base for exploring the hidden beauties of County Laois and its surrounds. But as a wedding venue I would have to say it’s a fantastic hotel and give it 10 out of 10!

From the moment you arrive at the the Abbeyleix Manor Alex & Sheila will be on hand to meet and greet yourselves and your guests and welcome them to this great hotel. Here you’ll find the best of Irish hospitality, professionalism and individual service. Last Thursday I had the pleasure of filming a wedding in this lovely hotel and saw first hand how Alex and Sheila strive to ensure that the needs of the bride and groom and their guests are met, making sure all staff were on hand with a friendly word and that all-important smile!
On arrival at the reception guests will enjoy a fantastic selection of sandwiches, mouth-watering scones and of course the life-saver: tea & coffee! I must say, a bite to eat for the guests as they arrive, sometimes after a long drive, is very welcome and appetising and the food in this hotel certainly was all that and more!
When the newly married couple arrive at The Abbeyleix Manor Hotel Alex & Sheila are on hand to greet them with the red carpet and champagne. From here the couple are lead in to the hotel to mingle with their guests and at this point it’s my chance to get some great footage of the couple chatting and relaxing with their guests. Soon after this their photographer might take the couple to some of the fabulous locations the hotel has to offer for some family and friends photographs.
It’s then time for me to go to the wedding reception room to film the little details the couple might have placed on tables etc. The room layout is always impeccable – clean and well laid out. Toilets are fresh, clean and very well serviced.
Time to call in the guests! Abbeyleix Manor is another hotel that makes sure no one is waiting for their meal as the bell is rang in good time – on this occasion 5.30 on the dot, sitting before 6 which is fantastic with such a large wedding. This is a sign of a well run hotel with a great team. believe me a lot of hotels drag their feet on this important part! The couple are applauded into the room with their favourite piece of music which can be great fun. You can choose your menu from a wide selection of mouthwatering dishes and believe me, I have sampled both the wedding and the bar food and the quality is second to none! One great thing about the hotel is that they make sure all the guests are back in the function room at 9.30 for the first dance and evening entertainment. Now thats the way to run a business and a wedding day!
