If you have read my previous posts, you’ll know that I am a very well established wedding videographer working throughout Tipperary and Munster. If this is your first time visiting my blog, hello and welcome!

Well, this is a blog post I have been dying to share, as now I want to tell you all about editing and my recent investment to ensure I can produce the finest wedding videos in all of Munster. The actual filming of a wedding amounts to only half of the work involved in creating a beautiful wedding video. My wife and I will spend approximately two days editing your wedding video in order to create beautiful, synchronised footage.

I mentioned in an earlier post how I travelled to London for the annual BVE camera show, a large affair attended by industry experts from all over the world. At the show I purchased two new cameras, both are top of the range, full HD, small and compact, allowing me to float discreetly in and around the wedding party. I’m sure you’re wondering why I need two cameras. Well, on a very important day like your wedding day, I like to be prepared for the unexpected and have a back-up camera in the highly unlikely event that anything should go wrong. Along with the new cameras, I purchased something I’m very excited about – new class-leading editing software called Adobe Premier Creative Cloud 7.01. It has received rave reviews and is widely regarded by industry experts as the hottest, must-have for videographers.

Editing software is constantly evolving. As a wedding videographer and to survive in this competitive industry, it’s essential for me to stay at the top of my game. I purchased Adobe Premier alongside a monthly subscription so I will receive constant software updates as the software evolves.

I’ve spent a few weeks exploring the functionality and intricacies of this software and I am in agreement with the field experts. I’m very pleased with the wedding DVDs filmed in Tipperary recently. (Please play the video to see the results). This new software is my favourite to date. It boasts many new enhancements and additions on previous software from adobe, but I’ll try to only mention a few and not bore you with too much technical jargon! The real beauty of this software is it gives me, the videographer, even greater control and influence over the final finish. It gives me greater control over the audio as I can more accurately synchronize segments of footage. Synchronizing clips which have been filmed from different angles can be tricky, given that they have different sounds and noise levels. Adobe Premier allows me to analyse the noise volume and type of noise, so these clips can be joined and synchronized smoothly.

Adobe Premier has continued another great feature called Speed grade. With this I have enhanced control and can create and add special effects to your film to create different styles and finishes. I can make subtle changes to colour and tone. This is incredibly useful, when a wedding is filmed on a dull day, colours can be subtly enhanced to create the impression of a warmer, radiant day. This is a great feature, given the unpredictable nature of our Irish weather. Speed grade can also be used to create a very romantic and atmospheric ambiance by adding sepia or soft filters to soften the edges.

Should you come across a wedding video you find appealing because of a distinctive look or the way it has been stylised, chat to me about it and I’m confident I can achieve the same effect, or as could well be the case, it could be very similar to a wedding video I have already produced myself. The possible effects vary hugely, however I feel natural and gentle effects are the most suitably for a wedding video and DVD. At the end of the day it is all a matter of personal taste, which it should be in order to create a unique DVD, personal to you as a couple.

Sony Professional

In order to create your unique wedding video, there are many aspects of the editing which will draw on your own creativity and choices, such as –

Do you want the entire speeches in the video or just highlights?

What type of graphics would you like to introduce the speakers or the celebrant?

What are your music choices?

Would you like segments of footage to be overlaid with music?

Are there segments you would like to see in slow motion?

Would you like a photo montage towards the end to include everyone who was involved on the day?

Sennheiser Wireless Microphones

So there you have it. There is lots of fun editing for me and lots to think about for you. Do have fun when deciding what type of wedding DVD you envisage for yourselves. I am here to discuss the options, help with decisions and make suggestions about what I think will work best.

With your ideas and my expertise, together we can create a wonderful and unique wedding DVD to remember your wedding day.

If you have any questions at all, please get in touch or we can meet for a chat to discuss your ideas. I’m based in Cashel, Co. Tipperary.
